Sex Education in American Public Schools
The third map is really freaking me out. “Don’t have to be medically accurate.” WHAT.
you should check out #AcademicAbleism on twitter, if you haven’t already.
I’m interested in more discussions on how this impacts students in lower grade levels. How does the young black girl feel about herself when she encounters a teacher who isn’t skilled in properly accommodating her learning disability? How is her future trajectory affected - will she #elementaryableism prevent her from even having access to/experiencing #academicableism?
one that’s fucking me over this semester is a class i have where we have group “activities” with different people literally every day of class. i am not good in those situations because my anxiety goes through the fucking roof, and attendance to the class is mandatory and so is participation. my grade is suffering because i literally cannot steel myself enough to have to fucking deal with talking face to face with the other people in my class. which is super silly and makes me feel awful and my professor doesn’t believe this is an issue because i have no problem talking in a general class discussion (it’s different, somehow, it’s like i’m talking to the professor and i can tune everyone out, i don’t know how to explain it.) so yeah. i’m gonna not do well in a class because i don’t do particularly well in social situations because anxiety. cool.
also on that note, i ended up in the hospital a few semesters ago and had to drop a class as a result. but it was after the drop date and i waited a few weeks because i could literally not get up the energy to go through the bureaucratic hoops i was required to go through in order to get it dropped. by the time i actually tried, they denied the drop because i “waited too long” and “should have dropped it weeks ago,” you know, right after i got out of the hospital. so now i have an F on my record for a class that is taught once every 5 years so i can’t retake it, because i should have had infinite time and energy immediately after getting out of the hospital. cool.
anyways, cool hashtag.
The posts that pop up during finals week are the best kinds of posts
The odds of being attacked by a shark in the US are 1 in 11,500,000, but no one gets mad at people who want to avoid the ocean.
The odds of a woman being sexually assaulted in her lifetime are 1 in 6, but if she doesn’t feel safe around strange men she’s a stereotyping bitch.
Strange old world we live in.
yes hello i am 25 and cannot be trusted with junk food in the house
Working in fast food prompts absurd calculations. Your hourly wage is less than a combo meal. Rent costs more than a full months’ work. Every hour, dozens of customers come in, buying hundreds of dollars of food. But your wages do not change. Instead, they often go down abruptly.
In fast food parlance, “labor” is not “people”. Labor is the bottom line, the first thing to be cut to save money for corporate. When I ask the workers where the money goes, they say it goes “to the top”, but no one is sure where the top is. They just know it is a place they never see.
To a degree, I would include other service industry jobs, but there’s really nothing that depends on tips and rock-bottom wages quite like food service.
Uh…… you mean like this?
wow. let it be known that tumblr legitimately changed my opinion on something today.
I’m sorry but is there an advert about toilet paper in there. They are legitimately trying to sex up toilet paper.

possibly the most realistic makeup tutorial I’ve ever seen. doesn’t make you hate yourself or your incompetence unlike most beauty gurus.
